Dr. Kenneth R. Hall is a Senior Professor at Texas A&M University at Qatar. Priviously he was the Jack E. and Frances Brown Chair and Professor of Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M University (TAMU); Regents’ Professor; Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies and Director of the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) Division for TAMUQ. He has worked with AMOCO and ChemShare and taught at the University of Virginia. At TAMU, he was Associate Dean of Engineering; Assistant, Associate and Deputy Director of TEES, Associate Vice Chancellor and Head of Chemical Engineering. He was Director of the Chemical & Transport Systems Division at NSF. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). He has received the Donald L. Katz Award from Gas Processors Association, the Institute Award for Excellence in Industrial Gases Technology from AIChE.
S. Thomas Emerson is an American serial entrepreneur, angel investor and educator. Before joining CMU-Q in 2005, Emerson served as a director of the Donald H. Jones Center for Entrepreneurship at Carnegie Mellon University, and president and CEO at Arizona Technology Incubator. Emerson co-founded three technology companies, Periphonics Corporation, Syntellect Inc. and Xantel Corporation, and served as president and CEO of each. Emerson invests in high-tech startups and serves as director for such startups and not-for-profit organizations. He holds an SB in Physics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and MA and Ph. D. degrees in Physics from Rice University.
